    Kashrut Policy

Kashrut reflects our philosophical and cultural approach to food and is a way to welcome spirituality into our homes and our community.

Kol HaLev serves vegetarian food at its onegs and potlucks. Fish (excluding shellfish), eggs, and milk products are allowed. Although, because a number of our members are vegans, dishes which do not include fish, eggs, and milk are encouraged.  Meat and poultry products are not permitted.

Because of a member’s severe nut allergy, nuts are not considered kosher for our Kol HaLev communal meals and onegs.

Sustainability is important to our community, so our members are encouraged to purchase foods which have been grown and produced locally. We also encourage the bringing of reusable plates and flatware by members to the potlucks to reduce the amount of paper products that are used.
